A Day in the Life of a CIIC Intern

Hello! My name is Carine and I am a senior Communications major studying Global Communication and Media at the Ramapo College of New Jersey. I am expected to graduate in May 2020 and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me!

Becoming an intern at CIIC has not only enhanced my grasp on careers related to Public Relations, but it also has given me the educational experience I never knew I needed until I was doing the work hands-on! CIIC has given me the opportunity to work with clients, brainstorm with PR specialists, and draft front-facing ideas that can be seen on our website and social media. This experience has taught me not only how to practice good PR, but how to become a strong businesswoman in today’s workforce.

At CIIC, I took on the responsibility of doing Daily News Sweeps, Client Sweeps, Image Sourcing, Coverage Clipping, and Creating Media Lists. These daily tasks helped me learn what real PR work is like while also keeping me in the loop of what is going on in today’s world. My day didn’t just stop here, I also assisted the team with event coordination. Learning new things as each day unfolded was the most influential part of my time at CIIC; taking classes and studying about PR is one thing, to then watch it come to life and become a moving part in the equation is a completely life changing experience.

Interning at CIIC is an experience I will never forget. The relationships you create with your co-workers and supervisors and the real passion they have for you to learn and grow is unmatchable. Being pushed to be the best employee I can be is what CIIC makes a priority of, and something I am so grateful for.

When I came to CIIC, I was unsure of where I wanted to take my career in Communications. With further teaching and coaching, I am confident to say that I am ready to take the next steps that are necessary to becoming a #GirlBoss and dive into my future endeavors with Public Relations! Joining the CIIC intern team has been a one-of-a-kind experience and is definitely an opportunity I am very fortunate of. Here’s a special thank you to everyone at CIIC who has been extremely welcoming and helped me establish my role in Public Relations.
