In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness month, we would like to highlight a very meaningful event that CIIC proactively assisted with for the 3rd consecutive year.

This past May, our client the Food & Shops at LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B teamed up with Port Authority of NY & NJ for the 4th Annual Shave Event with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. The partnership coordinated efforts to collect donations from volunteers who shaved their heads to stand in solidarity with kids battling cancer.

CIIC disseminated a press release on behalf of the Food & Shops at Terminal B to regional media outlets to announce the details of the shave event and overall efforts of the campaign. CIIC also disseminated a media alert to local broadcast media to secure live coverage during the event. CIIC was on site during the shave event live tweeting on behalf of the Food & Shops, coordinating press, and arranging interviews with families, shavers, as well as the VP and General Manager of MarketPlace Development at LaGuardia Airport, Lillian Tan.

CIIC successfully secured media coverage of the event in local publications such as NY1.com and the Queens Chronicle. Live broadcasts of the event were featured on Fox News and NY1, providing exposure of this heart-warming campaign to over 11 million viewers!

The shave event raised over $30,000 dollars this year alone and over $100,000 collectively over the last four years towards childhood cancer research, making it incredibly successful in terms of contributing to the overall fundraising and awareness efforts of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The CIIC team is looking forward to future charity events at the agency. Be sure to check out this video highlighting last years event:
