CIIC Gives a Sneak Peek into the 3rd Annual Los Cabos International Film Festival

On November 12th, Los Cabos, one of Mexico’s most scenic destinations, kicked off the 3rd Edition of the Los Cabos International Film Festival to showcase collaboration between Mexican film and it’s North American partners (US, Canada & Mexico) centered around the tag line “Come See What The Neighbors Are Doing” in a five-day event.

In anticipation for the world-class cinematic event, the CIIC Team planned a NYC Media Tour with General Director of the Film Festival, Alonso Aguilar-Castillo. CIIC secured appointments with top tier publications such as Travel + Leisure, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, Vogue, Avenue and more.

The CIIC team worked tirelessly to create buzz and awareness about the Los Cabos Film Festival, which unofficially marked the re-opening of the destination after Hurricane Odile swept through on September 14.

In preparation of the Film Festival, the CIIC team organized a group press trip to host US media in the destination to witness the festival first hand. The CIIC team secured the attendance of media, created the press trip itinerary, secured activities, and booked flights and transportation. CIIC team members, Senior Vice President, Kate Wark and Senior Account Executive, Alyssa DiPalma flew down to Cabo to escort the nine writers and editors for the prestigious event. The writers and editors represented outlets including Travel + Leisure, Travel Weekly, TravelAge West, Travel Pulse, Pursuitist, Snap Magazine, Sherman’s Travel, Complex.com and LA Splash Magazine.

The Film Festival drew attention globally with the attendance of A-list celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Rosario Dawson. Witherspoon kicked off day 1 of the festival as she introduced the Latin American premiere of her film “Wild”. Rosario closed out the film festival as she presented a tribute award to Atom Egoyan, director of “The Captive” starring Rosario Dawson and Ryan Reynolds.
